The Tees Valley mayor (also styled as the ''metro mayor of the Tees Valley'' and the ''mayor of the Tees Valley'') is a Combined authorities and combined county authorities, combined authority mayor in England, 2017 Tees Valley mayoral election, first elected in May 2017. The mayor is leader of the Tees Valley Combined Authority. The office was created under the Cities and Local Government Devolution Act 2016, which allowed for the creation of metro mayors to lead Combined authority, combined authorities in England. The election scheduled for 7 May 2020 was 2021 Tees Valley mayoral election, held on 6 May 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The following election was held on 2024 Tees Valley mayoral election, 2 May 2024. The next election is due in May 2028. The mayor is a member of the Mayoral Council for England and the Council of the Nations and Regions.
