Early life and education

Marwan Moussa was born in Egypt. He studied cinema and directing in Italy for four years before pursuing music studies. In late 2016, he began studying music production and sound engineering in Los Angeles.


Career

Marwan began his musical career in 2016, initially focusing on singing and songwriting. His first song, "Hayla," was released in 2016. The following year, he released his debut album *Bel Monasba*. In 2018, Marwan released two albums: *Russia* and *Brazil*. He gained considerable popularity in 2019 after releasing the albums *Shababeek Shahr Etneen* and *Propaganda*. The *Propaganda* album was a breakthrough, cementing his status as one of Egypt's most prominent rappers. In 2020, he released the album *3alam Talet* (Third World). 2021 was a milestone year for Marwan. He released the album *Florida*, which included the hit songs "Sheraton" and "Tesla." The "Tesla" music video was shot in Greece and directed by Ali Ali, receiving critical acclaim as one of the best Egyptian rap videos. That same year, Marwan co-founded the record label "Raks Mal Records" with friends. During 2021, Marwan became involved in a public feud with fellow rapper Abyusif. The dispute involved mutual diss tracks, including Marwan’s "Msh Okay," "Megatroll," and "Dabdoob Hassas," and Abyusif’s "Megatroll," "Set," "Eesar Katrina," and the "Bermuda" series. The rivalry remains unresolved. In 2022, Marwan released four albums: *Benny We Beynak*, *Kazakairo*, *3a2d E7teraf*, and *Florida Dark Mode*. He received three prestigious awards at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in Dakar, Senegal, including Best Rapper, Best Lyricist, Best Hip-Hop Artist, and Breakthrough Artist of the Year. In August 2022, Marwan participated in an African fusion remix of the hit song "Pasoori" by Ali Sethi on Coke Studio Africa, which featured a blend of Nigerian Afrobeats, Egyptian rap, and Pakistani vocals. Spotify data from 2023 showed Marwan Moussa as the third most streamed Arabic hip-hop artist of all time across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
