A potential fourth species has been identified in Gabon in 2015 and proposed as a new species ''Mansonella'' sp. "DEUX". Whole-genome sequences from ''Mansonella perstans'', ''Mansonella ozzardi'', and the newly proposed species ''Mansonella'' sp. "DEUX" have been assembled.
