Gurukul

Sangeeatcharya D. V. Kanebua Pratishthan www.kanebuapratishthan.com "Gurukul" is a unique legacy prevalent in Indian culture for imparting knowledge from the Guru (master) to the Shishya (student). To facilitate a seamless flow of knowledge, the student dedicates all his time residing and learning in Guru's close proximity. This exclusive style nurtures and cultivates a divine bond between the two and goes beyond time and location constraints which are usually associated with formal classroom lessons. The students not only receive the "content" but also undergo a lot of "cultural mentoring" - an extremely essential element in the training process of knowledge transfer. This distinctive tradition has produced some of the finest exponents in the field of Indian performing arts - be it vocal, instrumental music or dance. "Gurukul" has been paved on this foundation and intends to continue this precious tradition. Agra Gwalior Gharana's senior and eminent Guruvarya Sangeetacharya Pandit D. V. Kanebua dedicated all his life to the "sadhana" of music. His disciple, today's leading vocalist Smt Manjusha Patil is an outcome of his precious tutelage and to preserve this heritage, she initiated the Pratishthan-which is gradually culminating into a wonderful institution, encouraging and supporting genuine musical growth and grooming the upcoming talents. In the year 2014, Manjusha Tai established 'Sangeeatcharya D V Kanebua Pratishthan's Gurukul' in Sangli. Currently, 45 students are learning Hindustani Classical Music here. The Pratishthan also offers a scholarship to those who are in need.
