He was the Landtag's spokesman for the Patriotic Union from 2020 to 2025. During his time in the Landtag, he has called for stronger penalties against the sexual abuse of minors. Since 10 April 2025, Kaufmann has been the President of the Landtag of Liechtenstein. Kaufmann married Dahiana Garcia Vasquez (born 13 July 1983) on 30 May 2008 and they have one child together.
