Following the show's shift to a weekly format, it was reported that viewership had increased to 2.5 million by June 2024, and was the network's highest-rated program. Beginning on January 20, 2025,''The Rachel Maddow Show'' will return as a weeknight show, 5 nights a week, as part of MSNBC's coverage of the first 100 days of the second Trump administration. The show will replace ''Alex Wagner Tonight'', which airs Tuesdays to Fridays, every weeknight until May 1.
