Cure grew up in
Goodland, Kansas Goodland is a city in and the county seat of Sherman County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 4,465. It was named after Goodland, Indiana. Goodland is home to Northwest Kansas Technical College ...
and attended Goodland High School, where he played basketball and football and competed as a hurdler in track and field. He played quarterback and running back during his freshman season and did not see much playing time. Cure suffered a hamstring injury and only played in four games during his sophomore season. As a junior, Cure caught 42 passes for 946 yards and 14 touchdowns. Cure was selected to play in the 2025
