Venizelos mostly grew up on the island of Hydra in the

Venizelos is a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) ''Marine Turtle Specialist Group'', which is regarded as “the global authority on marine turtles”. Venizelos was a scientific consultant for the documentary TV series ''Universum'' for the episode ''Greece – Garden of the Gods'', which aired in 2005.
