His nomination was confirmed on Sunday, June 27, 2021, on the last day of the VII National Congress of the CONAIE, which was held in the town of Salasaca, in the Province of Tungurahua, Ecuador. 2025 presidential campaign

In February 2024, Iza registered as a pre-candidate for the Pachakutik presidential nomination in the 2025 general election. He placed third in the first round, receiving 5.25% of the vote.
