Larry Rudell Ellis (born June 30, 1946) is a former
United States Army officer who served as the Commander of
United States Army Forces Command from November 19, 2001 until 2004, following his assignment as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans of the Department of the Army.
During his career, Ellis had assignments in the United States, South Vietnam, Germany, South Korea, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. His command assignments include

Early life and education
Ellis was born in 1946 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from
Morgan State University in 1969. While at Morgan State he was a member of the National Society of
Pershing Rifles. He earned a Master of Science degree in Physical education from
Indiana University School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 1975.
