Edith Marks, 80, a lifetime Mahopac resident who attended Mahopac schools, last week urged the Mahopac Board of Education to 'straighten out' the pronunciation question. “It's 'Ma-ho-pac'," she told the school trustees. School officials quickly polled the board and Ma-ho-pac quickly won out. Mrs. Marks says people will have to be retrained on the correct pronunciation.
