History

The magazine was founded in 1960 by graduate student Geoff Miller (1936–2011) and advertising executive David Brown. Originally named ''Southern California Prompter,'' it was renamed ''Los Angeles'' in 1961. Geoff Miller was Editor-in-Chief from 1974 to 1990 and later was Publisher until his retirement in 1994. The magazine changed ownership several times. It was purchased by CHC in 1973, by
