While he was productive in his second stint in New England, the Patriots were tight on cap space. Van Noy was released on March 7, 2022.

Van Noy did not provide a timetable for his injury, stating simply that it was "a pretty good fracture," and that he was still going through tests with specialists; he ultimately did not miss any time. He was also critical of the Chiefs medical staff saying that “they took an entire quarter to get down to talk to me in the locker room.”
