The county's 19 towns are: (宽甸镇), (灌水镇; mnc, ᡤᡠᠸᠠᠨ ᡧᡠᡳ ᠵᡝᠨ), (硼海镇), (红石镇), (毛甸子镇), (长甸镇), (永甸镇), (太平哨镇; mnc, ᡨᠠᡳ ᡦᡳᠩ ᡧᠣ ᠵᡝᠨ), (青山沟镇), (牛毛坞镇), (大川头镇), (青椅山镇; mnc, ᠴᡳᠩ ᡳ ᡧᠠᠨ ᠵᡝᠨ), (杨木川镇), (虎山镇), (振江镇), (步达远镇), (大西岔镇), (八河川镇; mnc, ᠪᠠ ᡥᡝ ᠴᡠᠸᠠᠨ ᠵᡝᠨ), and (双山子镇). Geography

Kuandian occupies the eastern half of Dandong City and is situated among the Changbai Mountains, on the northwest (right) bank of middle-lower reaches of the Yalu River, across which it borders the North Korean provinces of North Pyongan and Chagang. Domestically, it borders Ji'an (
