Krishna Prasad was born into a traditional agriculturist family. His ancestral home is in Anchuvilakku,

. He has two siblings. His father, N. P. Unnipilla was a teacher, social worker, and agriculturist. Prasad began acting at the age of eight, portraying a 70-year-old man in a stage drama titled ''Prism''. From then on, he remained active in stage plays, which eventually led to his entry into cinema. He was a two-time Best Actor at Mahatma Gandhi University youth festival. He is also a graduate of Mahatma Gandhi University.
