The following census in 2011 counted 2,616 people in 670 households.
The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 3,016 people in 819 households, by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Fanuj County. The rural district was transferred to the new Kotij District. It was the most populous village in its rural district.
After the census, Kotij was elevated to the status of a city.
