In 1988, it was recommissioned. The Resistance monument was unveiled in 1950 to honor the memory of four individuals from the Dutch resistance who seized control of the sluice on April 13 to 14, 1945. Despite facing German forces, they valiantly defended their position for 36 hours. Unfortunately, three of them died in the encounter. Additionally, one member of the relief force, who came to their aid on April 16, also died. The monument stands as a tribute to their bravery and sacrifice.
