on March 4, 2009, where he would spend all four years of his college career. In his freshman year with the Wolverines, Opare made 14 appearances and scored his first collegiate goal on September 11 in a 3–0 victory over
Wright State. He also went on to be named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. In
