According to the 2011 Census of India, Khandra had a total population of 15,383 of which 8,096 (53%) were males and 7,287 (47%) were females. Population in the age range 0–6 years was 1,853. Among the educational facilities it had were 6 primary schools, 2 middle schools, 2 secondary schools, 2 senior secondary schools, 1 general degree college. It had 1 recognised shorthand, typewriting and vocational training centre, 1 non-formal education centre (Sarba Siksha Abhiyan).
