to KZFX. The KZFX call sign had been previously used from 1986 to 1994 by Z107 in Houston, Texas. KZFX was the first radio stations in the High Desert to stream its primary signal on the internet using Winamp in the fall of 2012. In that same year, the station created a sub-Oldies format that was broadcast on the stations SCA Subcarrier and made available via SCA receivers to select businesses in town. In 2013 KZFX began test broadcasts in HD and moved its SCA broadcast Oldies format to HD. The station created another HD channel for a Classic Country format. With the growing demand in online streaming, it was decided in 2014 to discontinue HD broadcast due to the lack of HD radios and poor reception due to technical broadcast limitations of the HD standard itself. Two other formats were added online to bring the total number of stations to five. KZFX enjoys a daily ATSL of just under 2 hours with an average of 1,660 active sessions per hour.
