, Buckmaster finished third behind Janet Ruff in the 440 yards event at the 1956 WAAA Championships. She married Dennis Jordan (who would be her coach at the 1960 Olympic Games), in 1957 in north-west Surrey and competed under her married name thereafter. Jordan became the national 880 yards champion after winning the British
