Congress

Cheadle was elected as a Republican to the Fiftieth and Fifty-first Congresses (March 4, 1887 – March 3, 1891). He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1890, and for nomination to the Fifty-third and Fifty-fourth Congresses in 1892 and 1894.


Later career and death

He was affiliated with the Democratic Party in 1896. He was an unsuccessful candidate for election in 1896 and 1898 on the Democratic and Populist tickets. He was editor of the American Standard in 1896. He died in
