There were 19,452 inhabitants in 4,255 households at the following census of 2011, by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Dalgan County. The rural district was transferred to the new Jolgeh-ye Chah Hashem District. The 2016 census measured the population of the rural district as 20,747 in 4,928 households. The most populous of its 361 villages was Chegerdak (now a city), with 2,742 people.
