History

The journal was established in 1957 under the name ''Platinum Metals Review'' and was published by Johnson Matthey and Co., with the support of the Rustenburg Platinum Mines. This was done in the hopes of increasing the availability of information on the properties of Platinum and to link both academic and industrial research with "the aims of finding practical solutions to the material problems of modern technology (McDonald/Hunt)". From the July 2004 issue onward, it was published in electronic format only. In 2014 the journal was relaunched as ''Johnson Matthey Technology Review''.JMTR: Information for Librarians (2023)
