List of Jesuit universities

This list includes four-year colleges and universities operated by the Society of Jesus. The currently listed total on this page is 189 colleges and universities. Paul Grendler has authored a history of Jesuit schools and universities from 1548 to 1773. In it, he notes that the Jesuits had established over 700 colleges and universities across Europe by 1749, with another hundred in the rest of the world, but in the aftermath of the Jesuit suppressions of the 18th and 19th centuries, all these schools were closed.
