Jaouz River means "Walnut River" in Arabic, originates from the walnut trees that grow along its banks, is one of the rivers originating on the western face of the Lebanon Mountains, which is part of Lebanon's total of 22 non-navigable rivers. The river passes through a picturesque landscape, including areas like the Ras Nhach valley where the historic Mseilha Fort is located. The river suffers from pollution, and dries completely in the summer.
