Simon was born in 1940, the only son of John Simon, 2nd Viscount Simon, and his wife Christie Hunt. He was educated at

Simon succeeded to the viscountcy upon the death of his father in 1993 and became a member of the

. He was one of the ninety hereditary peers elected to remain in the House of Lords after the passing of the

Simon was married to Mary Elizabeth Burns from 1969 until her death in 2020. They had one daughter: * Hon. Fiona Elizabeth Simon (born 15 May 1971)


Death

Lord Simon died on 15 August 2021 at the age of 81. As he had no sons and as there were no other surviving male line heirs of the first viscount, the viscountcy became extinct upon his death.
