History

Jadara University was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in November 2004, and was established in the following year. It awards undergraduate and master's degrees mainly in Arabic, and English literature, science, and information technology. The university was named after the historic city of
Gadara Gadara ( or ; ), in some texts Gedaris, was an ancient Hellenistic city in what is now Jordan, for a long time member of the Decapolis city league, a former bishopric and present Latin Catholic titular see. Its ruins are today located at Umm ...
which is located about 20 km from the university campus.
