Background and release

On July 8, 2004, Tsai announced that she would begin her first concert tour, the J1 World Tour, on August 7, 2004, at the Hongkou Football Stadium in Shanghai, China. On December 15, 2004, media reports revealed that Tsai planned to release a live video album from the tour. It was expected to be released either at the end of 2004 or in early 2005. The album would be filmed using

In December 2005, it was revealed that Tsai's contract with Sony BMG had expired in February of the same year. Despite no longer being under contract, Tsai continued to actively support the label's promotional efforts as a gesture of gratitude for the record label's role in her career development.

Commercial performance

The album reached number one on the weekly video album sales charts of Taiwan's G-Music and Five Music. It topped the G-Music and Five Music weekly charts for 12 and 5 consecutive weeks, respectively. Additionally, it was ranked number one on Five Music's annual video album sales chart of 2005.

Critical reception

'' Tencent Entertainment'''s critic Shu Wa remarked: "Releasing a live concert album has been relatively rare in the Taiwanese market in recent years. This album features a live recording of Jolin Tsai's J1 World Tour, though unfortunately it does not include the entire concert, with only 16 tracks being featured. Many of the other performances were edited and later included in various compilation albums. However, considering that the J1 World Tour only had two performances in Taiwan, this live album served to satisfy fans who were unable to attend the concert in person. Despite not being a complete recording, it did not diminish its popularity. After the initial release on September 23, 2005, the record label issued a second version of the live album on October 27, 2005, along with an accompanying DVD. Both versions topped the major video album sales charts in Taiwan for several consecutive weeks."
