welfare service. After the war, he resumed his position with the Covington schools. Newhall was elected as a Republican to the 71st Congress (serving between March 4, 1929, and March 3, 1931). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1930 to the Seventy-second Congress and for election in 1934 to the 74th Congress. Instead, he worked in the oil and gasoline business. Newhall died in Park Hills, Covington, on July 23, 1952, and was interred in Forest Lawn Cemetery,
