After his release from Plymouth at the end of 2013–14, Vassell returned to Truro City, and after scoring two goals in a 5–0 friendly win over Godolphin Atlantic on 11 July 2014, he signed for the club the following day.

After making three appearances, it was announced that Vassell was ruled out for up to two months due to a thigh injury suffered in an under-23 game. On 10 June 2022, Cardiff announced Vassell would leave the club when his contract expires on 30 June.
