Coaching career

In July 2017, having suffered relegation, the 35-year-old Ansotegi announced his retirement and immediate return to Real Sociedad as youth system coordinator. Roughly one year later, he joined Asier Garitano's as an individual coach, and remained in the staff after the appointment of Imanol Alguacil. On 29 May 2025, Ansotegi was named manager of ''Sanse'' for the 2025–26 season, with Imanol Agirretxe as his assistant.
