The oldest hospital is the Syros General Hospital in Ermoupoli, Syros, founded 1827 during the Greek revolution. 19 hospitals that were founded in the 19th century. 7 hospitals in Athens, 2 hospitals in Thessaloniki (1 closed in 2013) and Patras (1 closed in 1871) and 1 hospital in Syros, Ioannina, Volos, Missolonghi, Tripoli, Rethymno, Lesbos, Samos and Chios.
