Until recently, the Holy Family Cathedral was the seat of the bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia. However, with the construction of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia in Bahrain, the Holy Family Cathedral was renamed Holy Family Co-Cathedral.
