The procession ends in the park where the celebrations continue, with live music and speeches. Saturday night is also a time for revelry at the city's gay nightclub. In 2018, attendance at the Helsinki Pride week reached a record-breaking 100,000 people, nearly triple the previous year's numbers. This made it one of the largest public events ever held in Finland.

History

The Helsinki Pride is a continuation of Seta's "Freedom Day" tradition, which began in 1975. The Pride was originally held in Helsinki in even years and in other major Finnish cities in odd years.
