Hannover-Land I was created in 1980 and contained parts of the abolished constituencies of ''Hannover III'', ''Schaumburg'', ''Celle'', and ''Gifhorn''. From the 1980 through 1998 elections, it was number 38. In the 2002 and 2005 elections, it was number 43. In the 2009 election, it was number 44. Since the 2013 election, it has been number 43. Originally, the constituency comprised the municipalities of Burgdorf, Burgwedel, Garbsen, Isernhagen, Langenhagen, Neustadt am Rübenberge, Wedemark,
