Reportedly, Habib fought and killed 62 enemy soldiers before being attacked by Budayl bin Maryam 'Aqfani, who struck him on the head with a sword. Another enemy then hit him with a spear, causing him to fall from his horse, after which Budayl bin Maryam beheaded him.
