Glasgow and launched on 6 February 1886.

Cape Station between 1890 and 1892.
In 1893, ''Mohawk'' was serving on the
North America and West Indies Station when civil disorder broke out on the island of

paid off into the Fleet Reserve at
Chatham.
She was recommissioned in January 1903 to replace the ''Scout'' on the
Mediterranean Station, with Commander
Ernest Gaunt transferring from that ship to be in command.
