During his time with the TCU Horned Frogs, he recorded 92 tackles, seven interceptions and 17 pass breakups in 51 career games. McCoy also returned kickoffs, averaging 28.9 yards with three touchdowns on 52 returns. McCoy was named

He was waived on August 31. On September 11, 2012, the Cardinals signed McCoy to their practice squad. On January 9, 2013, the Vikings signed McCoy. McCoy was released by the Vikings on August 26, 2013 (along with 12 others) to get to a 75-man roster.
