Govert Huijser (6 February 1931 – 5 January 2014) was a Dutch general and
Chief of the Defence Staff between 1983 and 1988.
Huijser was born in
Surabaya

Dutch East Indies. During World War II he was imprisoned in a Japanese internment camp. In 1949 he enrolled in the
Royal Military Academy of the Netherlands.
He graduated as a second lieutenant.
As major general he served as commanding officer of the
