He was born to Kundlik and Hirabai Padalkar of Padalkarwadi, Sangli district. His father Kundlik Padalkar was a primary teacher. Gopichand Padalkar belongs to Tribal Dhangar community from Maharashtra, He is a Higher Secondary School graduate.
