He was named vice chairman in May 1969. He was hired by Metropolitan Life in 1938 and was named as an office of the company in 1951. He was named financial vice president in November 1961 effective at the start of the new year and was named as a director in April 1964. He became chairman in 1973 and stepped down from that post in 1980 when he reached the age of 65 and was succeeded in that position by Richard R. Shinn.Staff
