churches. The show was originally on A&E, but later moved to Lifetime. The series was renewed for a fourth season on March 4, 2019, and premiered on Lifetime on April 1, 2019. Researchers and critics have noted the problematic nature of the series citing fictional escape scenarios and coercive producers who pushed a "sensationalized" narrative through thematic effects. Escaping "actors" were reportedly paid as much as $5,000 to appear in the series. Since the fourth season aired, there has been no official announcement from Lifetime regarding the future of the show.
