Erwan Setiawan

Erwan Setiawan (born July 29, 1970) better known as Kang Erwan is the current Vice Governor of West Java since 2025. He is also an Indonesian politician who served as Vice Regent of Sumedang from September 20, 2018, to September 20, 2023. Erwan was elected as Vice Regent of Sumedang with a pair of with Dony Ahmad Munir in the 2018 Sumedang Regent Election.

Before serving as deputy regent, Erwan was a legislator in the Bandung City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) since 2009, becoming a Member of the Bandung City DPRD for the 2009-2014 Period, and was inaugurated as Speaker of the Bandung City DPRD.

Towards the end of his term as a council, he competed in the 2013 Bandung City mayoral election as a candidate for vice mayor of Bandung. At that time, he was paired with Edi Siswadi. However, the Edi-Erwan pair was defeated by the Ridwan Kamil- Oded M. Danial pair.

Career

He started his career in business since 2001 until now he serves as Director of CV. Ganeca Kiara. Erwan Setiawan started his political career by becoming a cadre of the Democratic Party. He ran for the 2009 Legislative Election and won. He was inaugurated as a Member of the Bandung City DPRD for the 2009-2014 Period. He was also ordained as the Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD. Towards the end of his term as a council, he fought in the 2013 Bandung City Pilkada. At that time, he was paired with Edi Siswadi. However, fate was not on his side. The pair Ridwan Kamil- Oded M. Danial were the winners. In 2014–2019, Erwan returned to the Bandung City DPRD. He was re-elected as a Member of the Bandung City DPRD and sat on Commission C.

In 2018, a year before his term in the Bandung City DPRD ended, there was an offer from Sumedang. Dony Ahmad Munir, a politician from the United Development Party (PPP) invited him to become a candidate for Vice Regent of Sumedang and won. This pair led in the 2018-2023 period.

When he was Deputy Regent of Sumedang, Erwan Setiawan had a disagreement with the Democratic Party, the trigger was the West Java Democratic Party Musda. So he decided to leave. After not joining a party for a while, Erwan was then widely rumored to have joined the Golkar Party. The issue then became real, Erwan became a Golkar Party cadre.

Facing the 2024 Presidential and Legislative Elections, Erwan was asked to become the Regional Campaign Team (TKD) Winning Prabowo- Gibran. In Sumedang, the presidential and vice presidential pair won by a landslide. The Golkar Party also won 10 seats in the Sumedang Regency DPRD and became the winning party in the 2024 Sumedang Legislative Election. With the 10 seats, Erwan was originally going to run as Sumedang Regent, but politics, whose dynamism is in the blink of an eye, said otherwise. Erwan Setiawan had to go up to the West Java Regional Election. Erwan had established political communication with parties in Sumedang, and even the names of his running mates had been widely discussed. Although, when he was busy establishing political communication in Sumedang, Erwan received a visit from Dedi Mulyadi.
