sagebrush deserts and Ponderosa pine forests. Parsnipflower buckwheat is in the genus ''
Eriogonum'' and the family Polygonaceae, which is a family of plants known as the "knotweed family". It inhabits much of the western part of the United States and southern British Columbia.
