In the 1950s and 1960s Eigil Pedersen was one of the strongest Danish chess players. Nine times he won medals at the Danish Chess Championships: three gold (1951, 1953, 1961), three silver (1957, 1960, 1964) and three bronze (1949, 1954, 1956).
