Dobong District was created in 1973 by splitting 22 administrative neighborhoods off from
Seongbuk District

Along with Gangbuk District, Dobong District is considered a middle-to-lower tier neighborhood in terms of economic standing within Seoul. Additionally, Dobong District is home to the largest concentration of sock manufacturing facilities in the country. While most of these are not large factories, they mainly consist of small-scale workshops located in building basements or homes.
