Regional differences

As of 2022, Azerbaijan has a crude birth rate of 12.2‰. Rural areas tend to have higher birth rates compared to urban areas (13.8‰ and 10.8‰, respectively). As of 2022, the economic regions of Mountainous Shirvan and Mil-Mughan have the highest birth rate in Azerbaijan. On the other hand, the Absheron-Khizi economic region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have the lowest birth rate in the country.
