Woodard, who denies that he is a white supremacist, states that he was "drawn to the idea of an Aryan vacuum in the middle of the jungle". To research his idea he traveled to the settlement and met with its municipal leadership. Following an initial visit, having encountered a population "in moral and intellectual decline", Woodard chose not to pursue the relationship but had found in the community an object of study for later writings.
