George Gilder to start an economic journal at the
Manhattan Institute.

Asman began his career at the editorial page of ''
The Wall Street Journal'', where he covered Latin America for 12 years, before becoming editorial features editor. While in Latin America during the volatile period of the 1980s, he wrote over 100 articles and won several awards from the
Inter-American Press Association for his writings on Cuba and Mexico, as well as for his editing of a weekly column on Latin America. During this period, Asman also edited a column on business management for ''The Wall Street Journal'' called "Manager's Journal." Two collections of these columns were published, the last of which, ''The Wall Street Journal On Management: Adding Value Through Synergy'', was published by
Doubleday. Asman was appointed editorial features editor at a time when the ''Journals editorial page was breaking stories on
Whitewater.
